Light Touch Microdermabrasion System

How the Light Touch microdermabrasion system addresses the issues in the article: “Buying Power-a purchasing guide for microdermabrasion machines”, by Laura Root, published in the January 2001 issue of Les Nouvelle Esthetique.

1. Choose a system based upon your budget, space and treatment philosophy. This decision should be an informed decision based on sound judgement and valid information, and not because the system is the least expensive, the “cutest” or the salesperson was the most persistent.

Response: While we do claim to be the cutest, pushiness is not one of our strong suits. Rather, we feel that knowledge, training and service are the key points to creating a relationship with our customers. That is why we provide you with all of the information that you need to make an informed decision. When you expand your scope of practice, you will want to call the vendor who treated you well previously, and we count on that. No other system on the market peels the way Light Touch does. It is affordably priced and comes complete with an aesthetic cart that is easily moved from room to room. Leasing packages are available at a variety of rates, along with creative start-up packages that allow an injection of quick cash flow into any business (upon qualification).

2. How does the system address the following:

Crystal disposal – Response: we recommend that all used crystals should be “red-bagged” in a biohazard bag. Crystals should NEVER be reused and contact should be at a minimum with used crystals. Gloves, masks and eye protection are recommended during a peel and during the disposal process.
Viral filters – Response: most microdermabrasion systems on the market filter down to the 40 to 50 micron size, which is not effective in trapping viruses or bacteria. The Light Touch has two 5-micron filters in a series, which creates a filtration rate of under three percent. Upon request, a filtration of exhaust into the air can be filtered at a level of less than 0.1 micron with the addition of a HEPA filtration system at a minimal charge (under $100).
Vacuum and crystal flow – are there two separate controls? Response: YES!! You should always look for two separate controls in the evaluation of any system: one for vacuum and once for crystal flow. This allows the operator to adjust for treating areas of hyperpigmentation, rosacea, couperouse skin, and african-american skin. It also allows you to peel around the eyes without dumping crystals into the orbit area.

3. How much training is provided? Who does it? Is it a licensed aesthetician?

Response: As much on-site training as is needed is provided by Grace Medical Equipment, Inc. including extensive training in the marketing of your product. Most facilities can be trained in the basics of microdermabrasion in one day.

4. Does the representative of the system discuss appropriate topical applications to maximize the results and ensure return business?

Response: Topical treatments are critically important to the success of microdermabrasion treatments. We not only recommend that you perform them, we assist you in learning how to distinguish yourself from anyone else doing facial skin care in your area by providing these topical treatments.

5. What is the warranty and are loaners available in a short turnaround time?

Response: A two-year warranty is included with the purchase of the system. Loaners are available within 24 hours if needed, thus minimizing any down time.

6. What type of handpieces and tips are provided and what is the total cost per treatment (to include tips, filters and crystals, and handpiece/tubing)?

Response: The total cost per treatment with the Light Touch is under $2.50 for filters, tips, AND crystals. Many of our competitors on the market are between $5 and $10 per peel, which can add up to thousands of dollars even within the first year of two of ownership. Tips are disposable and should not be reused. The light weight, teflon handpiece (2 oz) eliminates the fatigue of heavy metal handpieces and costs under a hundred dollars to replace the entire system!

7. What types of crystals are used?

Response: Aluminum Oxide (see article titled “the Skinny on Aluminum Oxide”). The Light Touch also offers the ability to use Organic Grains.

8. What do you need in terms of vacuum gauge, LEDs or light functions?

Response: our easy to read pressure guide makes it simple to measure the strength of the peel.

9. How portable is the system?

Response: Weight-18 pounds. Dimensions-14 x 12 x 9.5. The small footprint of the system, combined with the lightweight design makes the Light Touch extremely portable.

10. How does the manufacturer deal with clogs: Can the system be used in the same treatment room as the steamer?

Response: Our clog free system was designed to keep you working, and not wasting time with maintenance. You should have no trouble using it in the same room as a steamer, however we do recommend that you store your crystal supply in a “non-steamer” room. Our sixty-second daily maintenance helps to keep the system operating free from trouble and from clogs.
