NC Board of Cosmetology to Implement Continuing Education
for all Cosmetologists and Estheticians

The NC Board is preparing for significant changes in the education system of practicing cosmetologists and estheticians. Continuing education (CE) has previously only been a requirement for cosmetology and esthetic instructors in the state of NC. Once the bill passes through the Senate in the spring of 2004, the Board will initiate mandatory CE for all cosmetologists and estheticians effective October 1, 2004. The plans are to implement a requirement of 24 credit hours for every three year license for Cosmetologists and 8 credit hours per license year for Estheticians. Grace Medical Equipment will be providing board approved CE courses throughout the state to accommodate the new educational requirements.
